Morgan Black is a multi-platform journalist with nearly 10 years of experience covering daily news in Alberta.

Her work for Global Edmonton includes Pope Francis’ historic apology to survivors of Canada’s residential schools, the shooting deaths of two Edmonton police officers and multi-day coverage on wildfires across Alberta.

In 2019, she was honoured with a national RTDNA award — ​judged the best in Canada — for her large-market feature piece “A Love Story Worth Listening To.” The story caught the attention of actor John Krasinksi (The Office, A Quiet Place), who, after he listened to it, tweeted “This was beautiful…wowzers!”

In 2021, Morgan was a Canadian Association of Journalists award finalist in the “Best Broadcast Under Five Minutes” category.

Her work has also been recognized for outstanding leadership in the mental health sector. In 2022, she was recognized by Momentum Walk In Counselling in the media category for “making a difference in the world of mental health service and stigma reduction.”

Before joining the Global Edmonton team, Morgan worked as the producer of the Ryan Jespersen Show on 630 CHED, as well as the features reporter for Global News Radio 880 Edmonton.

Morgan is a graduate of NAIT’s Television and Radio Broadcasting program and also holds a Bachelor of Communications Studies from MacEwan University.

Morgan has been writing for as long as she can remember. In Grade 3, she penned the autobiography “My Life as a Princess”. Since then, her writing skills have improved.
